Families of students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals can now fill out an application for the program for the 2026-2027 school year. Students who qualified for free and reduced-price meals last school year must have a new application by Oct. 6 to ensure there is no disruption to a student’s account. Fill out an online application at https://www.myschoolapps.com/Home/PickDistrict.
School supply lists are available at https://www.ccboe.com/page/school-supply-lists. Not all schools have submitted a list as of Tuesday, July 21, but lists continue to roll in throughout summer. Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) uses the platform, TeacherLists.com, to post school supply lists. Questions about items on lists should be directed to schools.
Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is planning back-to-school events such as open houses and orientations. A list of all schools’ and centers’ events will be available at www.ccboe.com on Friday, July 24.
Giant Food is celebrating its 90th anniversary and as part of the celebration, Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is partnering with Giant in the 2026 Nourishing Our Youth Giant Food Round Up program. It is available at local Giant stores in Charles County July 10 until Aug. 6.
Upon check out, Giant customers can round up their purchase amount at the register to support CCPS’s food and meal programs. CCPS received over $9,000 in donations last year that was used to help support families that receive McKinney-Vento supports such as food outside of the school day. The McKinney-Vento homeless assistance act supports the education of children who are experiencing homelessness.
Giant Food offers the Round Up program annually to assist with raising funds to address childhood hunger throughout local public school systems. To learn more, visit https://giantfood.2givelocal.com/.
Maryland SUN Bucks program is available this summer. The program, overseen by the Maryland Department of Human Services, helps families with school-age children who receive free or reduced-price meals buy groceries during summer break when school meals are not available.
Families that qualify for the Maryland SUN Bucks program will receive $40 for each eligible child in June, July and August to go toward grocery purchases.
Most students are automatically enrolled and do not need to apply. Program letters or a letter of eligibility has been mailed to families.

Mrs. Linton's Lit Lab 4 students were afforded a remarkable historical opportunity to learn about Freedom Rider Joan Trumpauer Mulholland and her extraordinary contributions to the Civil Rights Movement. Students participated in the pilot, student-centered workshop, "Get Back to the Counter", where they analyzed leadership skills and explored the values necessary to build stronger communities and create brighter futures. To wrap up the pilot program, students visited with Joan's son Loki Mulholland who shared insights about his mother's life, legacy, and activism. It was a day of learning, leadership, and inspiration that our students will not soon forget! #PiccoPride
