Continuity of Learning Plan

Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is committed to ensuring all students receive quality instruction each day. This includes times when students are required to stay home following COVID-19 quarantine protocols, such as for an exposure, or COVID-19 isolation protocol for a positive diagnosis. Teachers and staff are charged with providing current and relevant instructional plans for students to access virtually while students are required to be out for COVID-19 protocols. Staff will also be available to assist or answer questions at assigned times.

Strategic Plan

Purpose and Goals

The purpose of this strategic plan is to establish academic support protocols for students who have been isolated or quarantined due to COVID-19. Our goals include the following:

  • Provide academic support
  • Minimize disruption to education attainment while quarantined
  • Provide emotional support
  • Assist with reintegrating to school routines upon return

Duties and Responsibilities

Case Manager

Responsible for identifying students who are in isolation or quarantine due to COVID-19 and maintaining an accurate list of these students. Also responsible for sending Zoom meeting links established by content teachers to these students and parents. Case managers will also contact parents based on data provided by Team Leaders at MTSS meetings.

  • Case manager for students with last names A-K:  Shirley Truesdell, Counselor
  • Case manager for students with last names L-Z:  William (Bill) Marchione, Counselor

Academic Support Teacher

Responsible for providing academic support to students in isolation and quarantine due to COVID-19. Teachers will also create and provide reoccurring Zoom links for academic support sessions. Links will be sent to the case manager(s).

Team Leaders

Team Leaders will serve as the point of contact for accountability. Classroom teachers will provide Team Leaders with data and feedback on students’ attendance to sessions during MTSS meetings. Related Arts teachers will report data/feedback directly to case managers.

Plan of Action

Upon notification from the parent, the case managers will notify teachers of the absence and request work. Students and parents will also be responsible for checking their respective teachers’ LMS pages for assignments, documents, links, etc.

Classroom teachers will provide work to students’ respective counselor within 48 hours of the request. They will also keep their LMS pages updated to reflect current assignments and any documents and/or links for students and parents to view.

Below is the list of available days and times for academic support by content. Case managers will share Zoom links with parents and students to attend the academic support sessions.
